Its OUR water We drink it We are nourished by it It takes care of us
Now, its our turn to give back to the water On November 13th from 1:00pm-4:00pm, the Birmingham Water Works and Lake Purdy Let's Go Fishing invite you to participate in the inaugural Lake Purdy Clean Up Day
Purdy is one of the water sources for the Shades Mountain Filter Plant, one of the Birmingham Water Works four pump stations that treat raw water, filter it, and deliver it to your home
This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the source of the water we enjoy every day, and see the natural beauty of Lake Purdy in all its fall glory
In addition to the satisfaction of helping take care of Lake Purdy, volunteers will also have the chance to participate in turning that trash into something special
Local artists will be on hand to transform the trash into works of art, which will be displayed at a gallery opening in the near future, before being properly disposed of We hope that this art will serve as a stunning visual reminder of the impact that humans have on their environment
Red Mountain Crawfish Company will be serving a special Gator Dog, along with its usual crawfish and shrimp delights all the way from Louisiana A live band will provide the perfect soundtrack for the volunteers to dance to after a rewarding afternoon of cleaning
Volunteers will be provided with all necessary tools to pick up trash
